Arcigay launches a Sports Scholarship on July 3, 2019, the beginning of the UNIVERSIADE<\/a> in Naples \u2013 STOP HOMOPHOBIA IN SPORTS<\/strong><\/p>\n On the occasion of such an important event that will take place in Naples from 3 to 14 July, Arcigay would like to launch a \u20ac1,000 scholarship open to all graduates aimed at rewarding the best thesis work on the topics listed below. To participate in the selection for the scholarship you must send your application via email to\u00a0sport@arcigay.it<\/a>, to the attention of Marco Arlati, member of the Arcigay National Secretariat with responsibility for Sport, indicating one of the following topics covered \/ to be covered in the Thesis:<\/p>\n 1) Hate, Homophobia and Transphobia in Sport<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n 2) Diversity Management and equality standards of sports clubs<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n 3) Coming out in the Italian sports world<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The best work, selected by an internal Arcigay committee, whose composition will be announced on this page within 45 days, will receive the scholarship after the thesis has been defended during the graduation session.<\/p>\n We thank Agedo Marche for their collaboration, which has been working on projects on this topic for two years.<\/p>\n Arcigay has also opened a new special section on the map of Italian LGBTI+ sports, dedicated to the university world, to give visibility to all gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender university students who participate in sports. (Link to view the map:\u00a0www.arcigay.it\/sports<\/a>).<\/p>\n Sports, like family and school, are one of the social spaces where individuals and citizens are formed and educated to respect and value diversity. Unfortunately, sports are also currently the place in Italy where it is difficult to come out and freely express one's sexual orientation or gender identity, regardless of the type of sport one participates in. Homophobia, transphobia, and all forms of hatred, which take shape at sporting events or in sports venues, must be combated, and it is time for sports clubs to take a visible step forward on these issues. The sport that enters our homes every week is a tool for spreading positive and educational messages and must also be effective in the fight for civil rights.<\/p>\n On May 4, 2016, the 244th National Council of the Italian National Olympic Committee amended its statute to include among its commitments the fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation in sport. However, more than two years later, none of the CONI member sports federations have incorporated that provision into their statutes.<\/p>\n We ask the various CONI federations to incorporate into their statutes their commitment to combating discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in sport.<\/p>\n Sports Scholarships<\/b><\/p>\n On July 3, 2019, Arcigay launched a sports scholarship coinciding with the beginning of the UNIVERSIADE in Naples \u2013 STOP HOMOPHOBIA IN SPORTS.<\/span><\/p>\n Arcigay, on the occasion of such an important event taking place in Naples from July 3 to 14, announced a scholarship of \u20ac1,000 for all graduating students, aiming at rewarding the best thesis on the following topics. Arcigay believes it is essential to analyze topics relating to the daily existences of people operating in the sporting sector in Academia.<\/span><\/p>\n To take part in the scholarship selection procedure, candidates are requested to transmit their applications via email (<\/span>sport@arcigay.it<\/span><\/a>) to Marco Arlati, the \u201cSports Affairs Coordinator\u201d of Arcigay and elected member of the national Executive Board of Arcigay, selecting one of the following topics covered or to be addressed in their thesis:<\/span><\/p>\n The scholarship would be provided after the discussion of the best thesis which had previously been selected by an internal selection committee of Arcigay in its corresponding graduation session.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Arcigay publicly thanked Agedo Marche for his continuous collaboration in projects related to these issues for the past two years.<\/span><\/p>\n Additionally, Arcigay opened a special section on the map of Italian LGBTI+ sports organizations dedicated to Academia, aiming to provide visibility to all LGBTQI+ university students who engage in sports activities.
